New Media Technology in Research and Planning Stages
when we were in the research and planning stages of our coursework new media and digital technology have played a huge part in helping us make important decisions towards our teaser trailer, film magazine and movie poster. We used the internet and the blogs in order to research which film companies produce films similiar to the genre chose. This is how we found Fox Searchlight produced films such as 'Juno', this film is the genre we want our production to be. It also enabled us to email Decca records and enquire about the copyright to using Buddy Holly songs. We used the website 'Dafont.com' to research different fonts and create a selection to compare and choose from. The internet allowed us to research the conventions of movie posters and film magazines,by doing this we were able to ensure our work looked professional. As myself and two other members of the group are photography students, we were aware of how much editing we could do to our movie poster and our film magazine to make it look as proffesional as possible. This helped us prepare for the photo shoots, because we knew certain elements could be edited in post production.
Poster Idea
This is our movie poster. The top image is our original picture with no editing. The second image has been edited in order to enhance and develop it. the picture has been edited by editing out the background and enhanced all the lighting and colours. also we have superimposed 'Buddy's' head as it was facing the other way. we decided as he's a main character he has to be facing the camera so that the people that see the poster can see who he is. The picture also had to be enhanced as you could not see the drawing on the paper, so we then redrew the picture in Photoshop. When comparing this to our initial idea we decided that the background we had originally chosen was too unconventional and did not suit the film we then decided rather than a scenic background we chose the school common room and added students into the background in order to emphasise how much our characters stand out.

Anamatics Video
This is our anamatics without audio due to the fact that we have not developed a music yet. Seeing as we cannot use the Buddy Holly songs as we have not heard from the music company we have to prepare our own song. The characters represented in here are not the ones that'll be used in the film. We have decided to use a different girl and a boy for the brains and beauty section of the film as our original models have been used in the film poster instead.
Set Location
When we were creating our film ideas we decided to set our film in a school setting, because we chose the date for release of january 2012 we decided to shoot our film in the winter so that it ties in with the film release. our school was chosen as the location as we were trying to fit it in with the american high school setting here are some of the images of the possible settings we have.
the outside shot will be used during filming as it looks like a typical school ground. the indoors shot will be used for our film poster. we decided against using an outside setting as we felt it would look better if we used a student setting with students looking at the main characters in a weird way. this would also help emphasise the main setting.
Storyboard
Also as part of our research we needed to create a storyboard so that we could work out how are trailer is going to be filmed, and also how long each clip is, how long the trailer will be, and what will be happening in each clip. This also allows us to be prepared for our anamatics and be ready for the day of fliming.
On the storyboard there are pictures audio and a description of the scene. this is the general idea for the storyboard even though some changes may have been made.
